International Women’s Day

Student Union culture and gender affairs along with the support of Gender Development Studies celebrated “The Global Centenary International Women’s Day” in AIT on the month of March, 2011. We had a number of programs to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
We organized a signature campaign in front of Korea house on 8th March and we were very happy to see mass participation. The day was also declared a purple day to honor, respect all women and celebrate this great day (purple is the official color for international women’s day).We collected about 800 signatures from staff, students, faculty and other AIT members on our banner and we could see many people dressed in purple attire. The event was a success.
The next event was on the 17th March. We had organized a musical theatre performance by Moradokmai Theatre Troupe from Pathumthani in AITCC. This show was sponsored by the President’s office. We were very happy and proud that the President himself was there to inaugurate the show. We were also very happy to get the support from the Vice President, all the faculty and staff from GDS, the Gender Equality Committee, Student Affair office, MCU, AIT international school and Sodexho. The program ended with the announcement of the winners for the artwork competition and also the launch of the official anti – harassment campaign sticker. It was a wonderful experience organizing such an event in AIT and I would personally like to thank each and everyone who dedicated their time and showed interest and made it a success.
Student Union Culture and Gender affairs also organized the annual Cultural show on 1st April with the help of Student union office, active volunteers and all participants who really worked hard to make it happen. It was a great learning experience and we all had a great time working together.
Working with Student Union has been a great experience which shall be cherished forever.

Carlos Castro ( SU Cafe Manager)
The AIT SU Cafe team of the January 2011 semester was composed of 7 Portuguese members, who had been in AIT since the previous semester (August 2010) for a 2 semester interchange program between Asia and Europe. All of these students came from the same University and also from the same field (Industrial Electronics) being friends since the beginning of the college experience which gave the team the confidence that they could perform a great job serving the AIT community in proving a place where people can go to relax from a hard work week, meet their friends to spend some time together and generally have a lot of fun together listening to good music, dancing and celebrating the culture diversity that AIT has to offer. With a party each Friday night, including special parties like Carnival’s party or the White party, SU Café offered everyone some 16 good Fridays to be spent at AIT. I personally leave here my appreciation to all the people who somewhat contributed for the success of this team.

“Now here are the thoughts of who gave a lot of work, passion and enthusiasm while working for the AIT SU.”- Adriano Carvalho

“After a week of hard work, a night to let it go. After a week of hard work, a night to clear your vision.”- André Pinho

“I enjoyed the opportunity of working in the SU Cafe. Also it was a great pleasure to be part of the team that brought many unforgettable parties to the AIT community.”- António Fernandes

“Was with great joy that I was behind the counter, or in the mixing table and specially in the dance floor, sharing wonderful moments during our SU Parties. Thanks to all persons that made those parties unforgettable. “I had the time of my life…”-Luis Borlido

“It gave me great pleasure to be part of the SU Cafe team! A lot of work was done to make sure that people spent great moments together, but the final result is a feeling of true fulfillment”- Pedro Silva

“It was great to do these parties for all AIT community and the multicultural environment gave to them very socializing and fun. It was a great pleasure to me to work with and to this people.”
